Cultivating Cannabis Sativa is not hard; you only need to understand the process, which is technical. With many states legalizing the plan as legal to grow and for people to possess, you may as well cultivate some for benefits, including anxiety care, reducing inflammation and pains, killing cancer cells, and lots more. It is totally up to you whether you want to grow them in a cannabis pot or have a polytunnel for them. So, here are tips on growing cannabis from seed and as a clone.
Cultivating Through Seed
From seed, there are four stages of growth that your crop will experience. They include
- Germination
- Seedling
- Vegetative
- Flowering.
You’d obtain the seed from regular seed markets, online or offline. Cannabis can be male or female (dioecious), with the female being the reproductive one. As the seeds mature, the female plant goes into the dying stage, and the seeds drop to the ground and grow as new cannabis plants in the following season or are harvested for other purposes, such as seed oil or food products.
For pollination to occur, the male and the female plants should be grown in the same environment. Without the male, the females won’t create seeds but develop full plant buds. However, some species of cannabis have both male and female parts on the same plant.
Cloning Marijuana
A clone refers to a cut-out stem or branch from a growing cannabis plant known as the mother plant. A clone size is around 6 inches. Before harvesting a clone from the mother plant, ensure the planting medium is ready, including your moisturized loamy soil, a cannabis pot or bag, or if you choose to plant it directly in the ground. The clone is placed into a growth-enhancing medium such as a rooting cube and given growth-enhancement hormone.
Once the root develops, you can go on with the transplantation into the prepared pot or land. Ensure conditions, including soil type, irrigation, lighting, and pH, are all met.
Final Note
Clone cultivation may be easier if you only want to grow cannabis without pressure. However, if you intend to scale largely, you can consider seed planting with male and female plants.
